Known Concerns4 issues reported
At over 1 lb 2 oz, the Gamma MX is significantly heavier than lighter softshells in the Gamma line. Not ideal for weight-conscious backcountry pursuits where every ounce matters.
Breathability suffers even in mild temperatures due to the fleece liner. Runs too warm above freezing and requires full front-zip venting during moderate exertion. Best suited for below-freezing conditions.
The outer fabric wets out in sustained precipitation. While it handles light drizzle and powdery snow well, it is not a substitute for a waterproof shell in heavy rain or prolonged wet conditions.
Sizing runs slightly small. Multiple reviewers report their normal Arc'teryx size feels snug, with some noting uncomfortable tightness around the armpits. The 2025 update with roomier fit may address this for newer purchases.
